Toronto Island is the only island chain in Western Lake Ontario, with a history dating back to the first Native American inhabitants. Did you know that the location for Toronto, originally called York, was chosen because of the island’s natural harbor? Wards and Algonquin Island are some of the oldest neighborhoods, with descendants still living in the area today.
